CES 2012 may not help pump up demand

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2012, which will be hosted from January 10-13 in 2012, may not help pump up consumer demand afterward as there are not expected to be many new innovations appearing at the show.

At CES 2012, booths of Samsung Electronics, Microsoft and Intel are expected to become the three major spotlights at the show with their latest tablet PCs, smartphones and ultrabooks.

However, since Microsoft and Intel are only expected to display their Windows 8 and Ivy Bridge processor, respectively, Samsung's new products are expected to outshine the two giants; however, since there are not many new surprising products showing up at the show, some notebook vendors are concerned that the show's weak morale may not provide much help to attract consumers to purchase IT products afterward.

At the show, ultrabook vendors such as Asustek Computer, Acer, Lenovo, Toshiba and Hewlett-Packard (HP) are all expected to display their latest devices with Acer aiming to display an Ivy Bridge-based ultrabook model, which is set to launch in April of 2012.

For tablet PCs, Asustek will showcase its Qualcomm-based 7-inch tablet PC and its Eee Pad Transformer Prime.
