Acer, in view of satisfactory sales for its 11- to 13-inch ultrabook models, will launch a 15-inch ultrabook for US$699, with Taiwan-based Pegatron Technology responsible for ODM production, according to sources with the Taiwan-based supply chain.

Acer and Pegatron both declined to comment on the news.

Acer's existing ultrabook models are outsourced to Wistron with the devices' global sales expected to reach 250,000-300,000 units by the end of 2011.

For 2012, Digitimes Research expects Pegatron's total notebook shipments to reach 18.99 million units, up 22% on year, and the maker will stay firmly as the fourth largest notebook ODM worldwide.
