Acer chairman believes high chance of earning profit in 1Q12

Acer chairman JT Wang, at the company's Lunar New Year ceremony, pointed out that the company has a very high chance to earn profits in the first quarter of 2012 after a series of adjustments to help stabilize operations.

As the supply of hard disk drive will improve in the second quarter, Wang expects Acer's performance will be even better.

Having fewer working days in January plus hard drive shortages, Wang expects the company's shipments in the month will be the lowest for 2012 and will start climbing in February as hard drive supply recovers.

As for the Europe market, Wang believes that the bond issues will recover slowly and since the market only accounts for less than 40% of Acer's total revenues, while the company's account receivables are all insured, impacts are already under control.
