Networking IC vendor Realtek Semiconductor has posted net profits of NT$1.59 billion (US$53.72 million) or an EPS of NT$3.24 for 2011, according to a company financial statement. In 2010, the EPS was NT$3.46.

Gross margin for 2011 stood at 38.3%, up from 38% recorded in 2010. But in the fourth quarter of 2011, gross margin climbed to 41.5%, an improvement of 1.35pp from the previous quarter, the company revealed.

The company also reported revenues of NT$1.55 billion for January 2012, down 15.6% sequentially and 17.7% on year.

However, the company expects its revenues to stay flat or even edge up slightly in the first quarter of 2012 due to continuing growth in demand for Wi-Fi and TV chips, the Chinese-language Commercial Times quoted the company as indicating.
