Supreme Electronics, a Taiwan-based sales agent of driver ICs produced by Samsung Electronics, expects its shipments of driver ICs to Chimei Innolux (CMI) to continue growing in the second half of 2011 due to increasing shipments of touch panels from CMI to Apple, according to industry sources.

CMI's monthly shipments of touch panels used in iPad 2 will increase from 500,000-600,000 units in July to 800,000 units in August and further to one million units in September, the sources estimated.

ToTop Electronics, a joint venture between Supreme and Korea-based IC distributor Samtek, is distributing the driver ICs to CMI on behalf of Supreme, the sources noted.

ToTop's offerings include Samsung's DRAM chips, MCP (multi-chip package) memory solutions and TV panels.
