PC supply chain to see shipments stay flat or drop slightly in November

Aaron Lee, Taipei; Joseph Tsai

PC component makers and ODMs expect their shipments in November to stay flat or drop slightly on month as orders for the year-end holidays are not as strong as expected, according to sources from the upstream supply chain.

However, strong sales on Black Friday successfully helped the vendors clear inventories in retail channels, the sources noted.

The sources pointed out that PC brand vendors are conservative about demand for the holidays in December, despite that retail channels have reported strong sales on Black Friday. So far, the upstream supply chain still has not yet received any extra orders from their brand clients.

As for December, since the supply chain is expected to prepare for orders for the Lunar New Year holiday in January, shipments during the month are also expected to stay flat or drop slightly on month, better than the sharp drop of the same month a year ago.
