Wintek sees 3Q11 small- to medium-sized capacity booked up

Taiwan-based Wintek has had its production capacity of small- to medium-sized touch sensors and modules already booked up during the third quarter of 2011 due to steady orders for touch sensors or modules used in iPad 2 and white iPhone 4, as well as orders for touch sensors used in Amazon tablet PCs to be launched at the end of the third quarter, according to industry sources.

In addition, Wintek has won adoption of Touch on Lens, single-glass-sheet touch modules by HTC, Samsung Electronics and Nokia for their entry- to mid-range smartphones, the sources pointed out. Because Touch on Lens has the advantage of lower production costs, higher light transparency and shorter production time, it is expected to be adopted by many vendors of tablet PCs in the second half of 2011, the sources indicated.
